About the band ...
  
The Starlight Big Band is a group of enthusiastic and dedicated amateur musicians who enjoy recreating and keeping the Big Band sound alive. The band was formed in 1992, by its musical director, Tony Cox. Tony’s aim was to provide regular rehearsal and performance opportunities for the more experienced local musicians. The band features the standard instrumentation of Saxophones, Trumpets and Trombones, backed by a rhythm section of Piano, Guitar, Double Bass and Drums together with an M.C. 

And our music ...

The Starlight Big Band has a very large and varied repertoire which features swing and big band jazz, in addition to modern arrangements of music from the 1920s through to the present day. Over the last twelve years, the band has played for a wide range of events, including concerts, dinner dances, weddings, parties, fetes and other social occasions. A typical programme can include anything from strict-tempo ballroom to the perennial big band favourites such as 'Glenn Miller' and on through the 50s and 60s.
